Gerald began his career while in high school performing in a country/western musical review at Six Flags Over Georgia. And then, after declining a scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design, trained in the prestigious BFA musical theatre program at Florida State University. While home in Atlanta, during Christmas break of his sophomore year, he survived a near fatal car wreck in which he sustained a short term coma and a severe head injury.
Upon his discharge from the hospital, many months of physical and mental rehabilitation were required. After his recuperation he continued perusing his career in Atlanta and shortly after moved to NY engendering a prolific commercial acting career and establishing himself as one of America’s top commercial actors. After touring Europe as “Jesus” in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR work as a singer brought him to LA.
As a model, Gerald has continued to work throughout his career having billboards in Times Square and on Sunset Blvd as well as throughout the United States and Europe. He has appeared in a series of Land’s End catalogues, was the original “Merit Cigarette Man”, and popped up in ads in magazines from the Elle McPherson issue of Playboy, to back covers of magazines such as Time, Newsweek, and The Inquirer with campaigns for Subway, Ford, Sprint, and Miller Beer to name few.
